Privacy Policy
1. Overview
This policy explains what Packetfall collects when you use the Service (the “Service”), how we use it, and your choices. We aim to collect only what we need to run the game.
2. Information we collect
- Account — your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash by our identity provider).
- Profile & progress — your display name, characters, gear, levels, and game settings.
- Presence & chat — while you are in a shared area such as the capital city or a province, your in-world position and any chat or emotes you send are relayed in real time to other players in the same place.
- Payments — if you subscribe, our payment provider (Stripe) processes your payment. We receive confirmation and subscription status, not your full card number.
- Technical — your IP address and basic device/log data are processed by our hosting/CDN to deliver the Service and to enforce the region restriction during the beta.
3. How we use it
To create and secure your account, save and sync your progress, run real-time presence and chat, process subscriptions, moderate and keep the community safe, restrict the beta to supported regions, and improve the Service.
4. Chat & real-time data
Chat messages are relayed live between players and are not stored by us as an ongoing chat history. When you report a player, your client attaches the recent surrounding chat lines so our operator can review the report; that context is emailed to the operator for moderation and is not otherwise retained. We do not keep a standing log of chat content.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us run the Service — for example Amazon Web Services (hosting, identity, delivery), Stripe (payments), and Credly (optional certification-badge verification you initiate) — and where required by law or to protect the Service and its users.
6. Cookies & local storage
We use your browser’s local storage to keep your game state, settings, and sign-in session on your device. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
7. Age
Packetfall is intended for adults 18 and older and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, contact us at support@packetfall.io and we will delete it.
8. Your choices & rights
You can stop using the Service at any time, edit your profile in-game, and request access to or deletion of your account data by emailing support@packetfall.io. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your data; we will honor applicable requests.
9. Data retention
We keep account and progress data while your account is active and as needed to run the Service or meet legal obligations. Transient presence/chat data is not retained after relay.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and during the beta you should not rely on the Service to store anything sensitive.
11. Changes
We may update this policy; the “last updated” date will change and material changes may be noted in-product.
